Reducing Disease Burden and Health Care Costs Through Improved Fuel Quality Standards in Jakarta
This policy brief was developed by Pusat Riset Perubahan Iklim Universitas Indonesia (RCCC UI) in collaboration with Yayasan Visi Indonesia Raya Emisi Nol Bersih (ViriyaENB).
Focusing on Jakarta, the brief examines how poor fuel quality contributes to air pollution and rising health risks in the capital. It presents evidence on the potential of EURO 4 fuel standards to reduce pollution levels, lower the incidence of pollution related diseases, and ease the growing burden on health care costs.
Improving fuel quality standards is an essential step toward protecting public health and supporting a healthier and more productive Jakarta.
