RCCC UI participated in the 12th Better Air Quality Conference (BAQ 2026), held from 11–13 March 2026 at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok. The conference brought together policymakers, researchers, and development partners across Asia and the Pacific to accelerate action on air pollution.
Organized by Clean Air Asia in collaboration with Asian Development Bank, United Nations Environment Programme, and other partners, BAQ 2026 highlighted the urgency of addressing air pollution, which affects over 90% of the region’s population.
Discussions throughout the conference emphasized the need to move from commitments to implementation. Key themes included strengthening air quality monitoring systems, improving emissions inventories, mobilizing public and private investment, and enhancing regional cooperation.

A key highlight of RCCC UI’s participation was its contribution to a panel session titled “Air Pollution and Health in Indonesia: Reflections, Actions, and Policy Directions.” The session was delivered collaboratively with representatives from Indonesia’s Ministry of Health and Ministry of Environment, reflecting a strong cross-sectoral commitment to addressing air pollution and its health impacts.

The conference reinforced that effective air pollution control requires strong governance, cross-sector collaboration, and sustained investment. It also emphasized the co-benefits of aligning air quality actions with climate policies and sustainable development goals.
Participation in BAQ 2026 strengthens RCCC UI’s commitment to advancing evidence-based policy and fostering regional collaboration to improve air quality and public health in Indonesia.
